This is a great book if you like travel writing, are curious about sailing, wonder what is underneath the surface of the idyllic life of sailing around the Greek islands or you simply want to enjoy an engaging, funny narrative about entering retirement and navigating your way around life in the Greek islands where not everything is quite as smooth as the travel brochures suggest.
Actually, it's a great book full stop.

Intro from the author
To help our rather inadequate pension fund cover our retirement years, we decided to spend the summer months on a boat in the Ionic Sea. Our tubby little boat on the Solent seemed rather too small for us to spend the long months of the summer together in harmony. We had to find something more suited to our needs. At the start of the summer in 2008 we made our way to the Ionic Sea to find a boat.We have spent the summers afloat for ten years at the time of writing. Harmoniously? Perhaps, but hilariously would be a better description. Frugally? Hardly. Enjoyably? Yes most of the time. We explored the beautiful islands and the attractive mainland towns and bays of the Ionic Sea. We spent time with the hospitable, friendly and some times eccentric Greeks of the area. In all a totally acceptable way to spend ones retirement.
