OK, so I love clouds ... the picture above is reportedly a rare meteorological phenomenon. It's known as skypunch. Ice crystals form above the high altitude cirro-cumulo -stratus clouds, then fall downward punching a hole in the cloud cover. check out the link for more info

Very soon I will be unveiling my new project. The Cloud Quartet is different than anything I have ever attempted before. Following "...this is" in 2007, I felt I had exhausted my current musical methodology and though I have worked on a number of collaborations between then and now, I had some ideas of my own in development but needed something outside of my usual scope of musicians to develop them and bring them to fruition. The first demos for the project have become known as the Mr Cloud demos but the addition of three musicians of vastly different musical disciplines and interests has brought this project into a new space. The Cloud Quartet was birthed. I will be announcing the band members in due course and I imagine the album will be out by the end of the year.

I am mindful of the Homer Simpson quote "The problem with the world today is communication ...too much communication". It seems to me that there are a growing number of platforms to present yourself and your work online thees days. I have dabbled in MySpace, Reverb Nation, YouTube and more recently Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr & Soundcloud. However, i think I want to make the website my true online home. It's probably about being in control and presenting in the way that I want to present. It also means that the people who come here are intentional about their engagement.

What we have come to know as social media I believe is actually not as social as it presents itself, perhaps is more anti social. People appear to be more immersed in their phones than face to face interaction. I am not sure about it at all. I think we are entering an eerie social networking universe. 

So this is the blog section of the website. I am going to call it the archive. The main reason being that I want a place to archive the Falling A story. I have a load of crates of recordings, press cuttings, pics that go back as far as those heady days of cassette culture and I think it would be appropriate to tell the story, whilst I still have some memory intact.

This blog will do more than that, though. It's an opportunity to be sketchpad of ideas, rants, raves, reflections and anything else I care to write about.   

I will timeline the archive material on actual dates or as close to the dates that I can remember and anything current will be posted on the day it is written. I will make edits to some articles in which case I will place the edited dates at the foot of the article.  

So, here's the official entry number one.
