Two Headed Emperor – Selling Christmas – Falling A 2022
In a country that is falling apart at the seams and nothing works anymore, the majestic Two Headed Emperor shines a light on just what Christmas means for the downtrodden. First of all, they are most definitely in debt. The little elves sprinkle their tacky fairy dust in an attempt to entertain whilst we try to cope with it all. It’s what Jesus would have wanted…
Like a society of friends, The Two Headed Emperor has met up with Hatfield and The North, Captain Beefheart and The Fall for a chat with Keith Emerson and Thijs van Leer about how mental it all is, especially poignant and highlighted by Christmas in Santa’s grotto where the Sultan, dressed as Saint Nicholas smacks his lips, swings his enchanted hips and tries to sell us Christmas. It’s a dodgy sales pitch when we all seem to be entering some kind of purgatory.
The unique and intriguing poetry of Barry Lamb is set to rich instrumentation by Barry and Peter Ashby, intertwined with the vocal textures of Barry and Georgia Lamb. This is both an enchanting and very appealing little concept EP that you want to put on repeat play until you catch those astral straws you’ve been grasping at. This is beautiful but elusive song construction. Guitars, flutes, keyboards and all manner of instruments whisked up into a Winter Solstice brew for those with ears to hear.
It’s for you dear listener to decide for yourself what it all means.
