Madvillain - Madvillainy
I was late to the party with this. It had been and gone by the time I discovered it, but it blew my mind. During the "Wilderness Poet" sessions I began to catch up with what might be called hip hop. Working with Tor and everything that promised to be our album that never was, opened up a deeper discovery of the experimental end of these cool grooves.

Although our project never really came to fruition, we pulled off some great demos and really stepped into each others musical landscape, mutually blowing each others minds.

We introduced Tor to the likes of Henry Cow, King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator whilst she opened up our eyes to the world of cool grooves and a very different approach to production.

This was far from my introduction to hip hop. I spent some time in the early 90's working with Mikey Mike, a purveyor of lo fi rap. He introduced me to so many records that inspired me from that world in the early 90's. Guru - Jazzamatazz being one of my favourites. I have some quite long standing connections with Arrested Development. Myself and Pete also helped Josda Dan deliver his e.p. "Mess_age".

This album is full of Zappa weirdness and quirky humour laced with almost cartoon insight into a world of injustice, absurdity and urban storytelling. It's brilliantly delivered, poetic, fragmented, psychedelic  and so incredibly inventive. A complete masterpiece.

These pages represent my best attempt at a musical journal, travelogue, archive record of my musical landscape and everything I have been involved in over the years. It features celebrated projects to undeveloped ideas, sketchpad moments, memories and general stuff that has been part of my creative endeavours and the Falling A Records story. I am attempting to place things in chronological order though as time passes and I trawl the crates in my loft, I am discovering that my record keeping has been quite vague at times. Please feel free to interact and correct where necessary. The page also serves as the archive page for the website and is where we post our various announcements etc.,
It's very much a work in progress.
