In the late Spring and early Summer of 2023, Peter and I worked on some new songs inspired by the momentum of "We're Not On The Moon Yet" but harking back to our earliest recordings as Frenzid Melon and the insane picnic. The late 70's and early 80's were exciting times for music. We wanted to capture the atmosphere of that post punk period. We are feeling the same sense of political disappointment that we felt back then. Some of the issues may have changed but the heart of the political landscape remains untrustworthy and once again humans with power are proving themselves to be poor stewards of this gift.
For these sessions, I wrote the lyrics in a matter of days, we intentionally stripped our instrumentation back and recorded 12 new songs within about 10 days. Four of the songs we recorded, appear on this e.p. and the remaining 8 will appear on an album in the autumn. The songs have an urgency and intensity about them, they are experimental but infectious and catchy. Lyrically laced with grief and disappointment but they also offer an air of hope that enough is enough and an awakening may be just around the corner. |
