Somebody Famous – Previously Unreleased 7 Inch Single – Carousel b/w Half Mantra

Mythical unreleased 7 inch vinyl single lost in the mists of time and finally seeing the light of day through a digital release on Falling A Records.

Featuring members of North East of England punk/new wave bands Neon and Punishment Of Luxury, these two “catchy”, atmospheric tunes are different mixes/masters from those on the original Somebody Famous CD album entitled The Ship Of Grandad’s Day released in 1991 on Empress Records.

Over the ensuing years, people interested in the band have been asking why this single was never made available as they always thought that Carousel was their favourite song by the band. The reasons are complicated…

The two songs are unusual for the time in that there are no keyboards on the tracks. Rather Tim Jones utilised a Roland guitar synthesiser for all of the piano, string and other keyboard textures on the recordings. Tim is backed up by Steve Sekrit (aka Robson) on drums and percussion and Friz (aka Ken Linton) on fretless bass guitar.

Stone Premonitions and Somebody Famous would like to sincerely thank Falling A Records for making this long lost single available.
