- Two Headed Emperor - Cosmic Quark and the Morning Lark (CD)
Cosmic Quark and the Morning Lark, sees the ever-inventive duo of Barry Lamb and Peter Ashby joined by occasional member Georgia Lamb and legendary violinist Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention, Albion Band, Soft Machine) in a rich, unpredictable sound world where progressive art-rock meets poetic abstraction.
Emerging from the UK’s experimental cassette culture, their music is shaped by the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi — a creative philosophy that embraces imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty found in the incomplete and the weathered. This sensibility runs through every layer of the album, from its fractured melodies and tape-saturated textures to the lyrical explorations of existential fragility and the darker corners of human consciousness.
The result is a labyrinth of sound: woodwinds, distorted guitars, ghostly electronics, and found sounds merge with Georgia Lamb’s ethereal vocals — a spectral presence that drifts in and out of focus, offset by Barry Lamb’s raw, often unhinged delivery.
Sanders’ expressive violin threads through this sonic tapestry, casting light and shadow in equal measure, and guiding listeners through the mystery, melancholy, and beauty at the heart of the Emperor’s evolving vision.
This album can be pre ordered and we will deliver downloadable files ahead of the release so you can get an early preview along with some bonus unreleased material.
