All hail the lead single from the ‘Eye of the Storm’ album! We thought that the streets of the Great Metropolis were paved with gold – well, metaphorically at least – and that anything was possible there. It drew us like a dirty great magnet but, after the initial thrill, we realised that we were but the tiniest of fish in a massive, filthy pool, and that our dreams of success and good fortune would remain just that: dreams.
We strove to survive and maintain some kind of dignity but, at best, we were just treading that filthy water – going nowhere fast. As, inevitably, we grew jaded and cynical, another dream began to haunt us; that home we’d spurned in our youth called out to us. The yearning became an almost physical ache, nagging at us, calling us back. Maybe this dream could come true.
Perhaps a road trip with an equally disillusioned old friend? Or maybe something more permanent?
So, where is ‘home’? Well, for The Bringers of Change home is The Beautiful North. Let’s go!
“... so I think I’ll stay here. I don’t want to go back ...”
