The Beat Poet Experience appears to be built around the work of performance poet David O'Kelly, combining spoken-word poetry with music drawing on jazz, blues, reggae, punk and theatrical performance traditions. Descriptions of the project emphasise Beat Generation influences (Ginsberg, Kerouac, Burroughs) but filtered through a distinctly British perspective and contemporary social commentary. Beat poetry with an English twist. A psychedelic rush of language, social commentary, humour and spectacle.
